Joseph and Nathan met in 2018 while they were both going to college -- Nathan at Stanford University, and Joseph at Cogswell College. They would commute to each other's apartment or dorm every weekend, sharing twin beds and making it work. It was a much simpler time!

In 2019, Joseph graduated from Cogswell College and started working at Lucasfilm immediately. The couple moved to Pacifica to be closer to Joseph's work. Nathan would leave for Japan later that year, where he would study as an exchange student for a few months.

When Nathan came back, the couple moved to Stanford so he can be closer to school. 2020 was a weird year. It was a long distance commute for Joseph to go to work at San Francisco, but (un)luckily, he became a remote employee within a few weeks. The two became pandemic buddies, sharing a studio apartment while Joseph worked in VFX fulltime and Nathan took classes and had an internship.

After surviving each other in a studio apartment during a global pandemic, they moved back to Pacifica in 2021. Nathan graduated from Stanford and began working as a Software Engineer towards the end of the year. Joseph was promoted in his job. Their lives were changing rapidly!

2022 was the first full year when the pair lived together as working adults. Nathan worked remote fulltime while Joseph was on a hybrid schedule. It was a quieter year for the pair as they planned what would be the trip of their lives the year after.

In 2023, the couple went on a three-week vacation to Japan. Unbeknownst to each other, they both left California with a ring and a plan. At midnight on April 7, Nathan proposed to Joseph under a full moon in the Fushimi Inari Shrine, a perfect time and setting for an intimate, romantic proposal.

A few hours later, Joseph woke Nathan up very early and told him to get ready to go on a walk. He bent the knee and proposed to Nathan in front of Osaka Castle on April 8, hiring a paparazzi photographer to hide behind a bush and inviting a friend to record the moment. Their engagement was solidified with both rings, with proposals only seven hours apart!

Towards the end of 2023, the pair moved to a bigger apartment in Pacifica, hoping to start a family. On Thanksgiving, the pair welcomed their firstborn son, Astarion.

For all intents and purposes, Astarion is their "biological" son. The sassy vampire Devon Rex kitten was a welcome addition to their lives, bringing lots of joy and mischief. Joseph started a new job at Gladeo, while Nathan was laid off in January and found a new job in April. The year started a little bittersweet, but they are planning for the biggest day of their lives -- April 6, 2025!
