Austin is Joseph's best friend. While some may think he is Joseph's token heterosexual friend (for diversity), their relationship transcends trivial societal norms. During the pandemic, they were in each other's emotional support team, exchanging and watering each other's flowers in Animal Crossing and popping n00bs on Fortnite. The two can often be found fighting which Pokemon game is the best, very, very loudly.
Joseph and Paola were an inseparable pair in college. Not only because they were in the same social circles and a million clubs, but because they literally shared a room in the infamous Apartment 2215. They were literally together most of the day. After college, they remained close despite being miles away, whether it be playing tabletop RPGs or going to the club to get lit.
Ney was the last member to join the infamous "Cogswell High Gay Coven," a (not so)super secret illuminati-like society at Cogswell, where they controlled the student body, the media, and literally every extracurricular club under the sun. During the pandemic, Ney starred with Joseph in "It's Our Culture," a podcast about the life of three bored brown millennials in the pandemic. Ney affectionately calls Joseph "Giussepie," while Joseph calls Ney "Knee Oh A Toe."
Brianna's grandma affectionately calls Joseph her "bonus grandson." In 2014, when Joseph became homeless, Brianna's family adopted him, allowing him to sleep on their couch. This is a core memory that he would always be thankful for. In high school, the two were an inseparable pair, appearing in multiple theatrical performances, or, often dancing in random parts of the school, for absolutely no reason.
Franky was Joseph's first friend when he moved to Hercules, California. It was a hard transition for Joseph and Franky acted as a safe space to be around. It wasn't until years later, towards the end of high school, when Franky came out to Joseph. Though they didn't quite become gay bffs in high school, they are making up for it as adults!
Gabby and Joseph were best friends in high school. They did every school project and every club together and would regularly go to each other's houses to play Guitar Hero, Cooking Mama, or Just Dance. The pair were part of the "Trinity," an elite group of unqualified culinary students who somehow defeated more-qualified upperclassmen during a cooking showdown competition. Gabby's mother affectionately called Joseph "Wig Boy" in high school due to his classic emo-Bieber hybrid haircut.
Dre was a founding member of the Cogswell High Gay Coven, serving as the lipsync assassin of the group during many parties. For his killer fashion and superior dance moves, he held the nickname of "Dre Coulee," named after the drag legend Shea Coulee. In 2022, Dre joined Joseph at ILM, forming a new chapter in their lives as work besties and continuing the legacy of the High Gay Coven.
Before it became a popular thing to say nowadays, years ago, Joseph called Tiffany "mother." And indeed she was! Tiffany was an important person in Joseph's high school life. It was she who convinced him to do theater where they starred as Rhonda and Dave in the infamous Hercules High adaptation of "Almost, Maine" and acted as the President of Human Resources in the award-winning (and not cannabis related) high school company, "Herban Movement."
Sometimes referred to in college as "Valentina," Raff is everyone's best friend. Just like the drag queen, Raff was Miss Congeniality and a fan favorite in every social circle. Though he is a vegetarian, he has a tendency to eat pepperoni pizza after a few drinks. He is a founding member of The Cogswell College High Gay Coven, where he was the "face" of the group.
In many ways, Dani was the mother of the friend group. Her nurturing personality made everyone feel loved and cared about everyday in the harsh environment of Cogswell College. But, as sweet as she is, she is deadly in competitions, often scaring Joseph and their friends in Overwatch matches. Dani still refers to Joseph as "Mr. President" to this day for his service in ASB. Most recently, Dani played the role of Cobra Lily, a fierce Plantbending assassin, in Joseph's "Avatar Legends" campaign.
Joseph's mom empowered him to embrace his identity and become who he is today. Though they had a rough patch in high school, they developed a better understanding of each other in later years. She is an important person in his development into an accomplished young adult, even though she set the bar high with her multiple degrees that we can't even keep track of anymore, because she literally graduates with something every other year.
Though they came from humble beginnings when they moved to California, Anjo worked tirelessly to provide a good life for Joseph and his sister. Joseph would be nowhere without the support of his father, figuratively and literally, because everytime his car broke down, his dad had to deal with fixing it because Joseph has virtually no survival skills.
Ashley was the Azula to Joseph's Zuko, often fighting with and terrorizing him when they were very young (and he has the scars to prove it). The two have gone through many traumatic experiences together from their parents' divorce to Ashley accidentally releasing a lot of Joseph's Pokemon on his DS (he will never forget). She is the glue that holds the family together (she smells like it too.)
A young lady in a journey of self discovery and expression, she literally changes her name every month, and by the time you are reading this, it will likely be something new. Joseph's youngest sister was born in 2014. Since then, she has learned to follow her brother's footsteps, acting in school musicals (though, unlike Joseph, she is actually really good,) watching anime, and playing lots of Pokemon.
Lola (Tagalog for grandmother) is Joseph's loving grandma. She encourages him to be himself and embrace his identity. She is as lovely as she is as scary, because she can probably out dance and outrun Joseph because she does Zumba and works out regularly. She can also outdrink anyone in the family.
